Penshurst Place Wedding

It’s always a pleasure to work at Penshurst Place, it’s such a grand, beautiful, and romantic venue with gardens that are vast and architecture that is a dream for any photographer.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to share Lianne and James’s beautiful wedding day with both their ceremony and reception at Penshurst Place; the ceremony in the Inner Courtyard and their reception in the majestic Barons Hall.

A Change in the Weather

After experiencing so much rain in July and early August, it was a real treat to see the sun shine for Lianne and James. The ceremony was held under one of the beautiful archways of the Inner Courtyard with guests looking on from the sun filled courtyard. They had a reading by their little nephew Noah who also had the important task of handing the couple their wedding rings. James punched the air when they were announced ‘now married’!

Bubble Confetti

There were lots of hugs and congratulations from the guests on the South Lawn after the ceremony which was followed by an arch of bubble confetti back in the inner courtyard. Standard paper or petal confetti is not allowed in the historic Penshurst Place, but bubbles are a great alternative. A couple of Lianne and James’s guests used bubble machines to increase the effect which made for plenty of bubbles and that’s something I can definitely recommend as it worked so well for the photos!

Take a Breath

After the confetti I took the couple into the beautiful gardens for some time to take a breath together. I always advise my couples to take some time out during the day. It only needs to be a few minutes a couple of times to be together and to take it all in. The day goes by in a flash so it’s worth trying to be in the moment and take everything in.

After their couple photos, we then headed back for their group photos, before the guests were called to be seated for the wedding breakfast. After speeches and cake cutting the party began!

It was a wonderful, relaxed and joyful day and Lianne and James were dream couple.
