Winter Wedding at Penshurst Place | Sarah and Jack
Sarah and Jack’s wedding was a delight from beginning to end and such a pleasure to photograph! Despite the December weather it was a warm, loving and kind sort of day; exactly what you want your wedding to be.
I really love to shoot winter weddings; they can be a challenge because the light is often not great but the creative rewards can be many. I also love the colours of winter and Sarah’s bouquet by Sandra Lamb of Kent Wedding Flowers was incredibly beautiful with its rich red roses, berries and pheasant feathers.
Sarah got ready at The Leicester Arms Hotel in Penshurst along with her beautiful bridesmaids and mum. It was a fun morning, the girls laughed, cried at their gifts from the bride and gasped perfectly on cue at how beautiful Sarah looked in her Naomi Neoh wedding gown. A few tears were shed as Sarah’s dad came into the room to collect his daughter and then they were on their way to Penshurst St John the Baptist for the ceremony.
Jim second shot for me for Sarah and Jacks wedding and he had met the boys at the couple’s home for a few getting ready shots before they headed to the church.
I’ve shot many weddings at Penshurst Church and it’s always a pleasure. I’m particularly fond of the beautiful natural light hitting the couple when they sign their register after their ceremony, it makes for some beautiful natural photos.
The guests walked to Penshurst Place gathering in the Barons Hall around the firepit for drinks and canapes before heading into the marquee for the wedding breakfast.
After a sunny start to the day the afternoon came over drizzly so I didn’t venture too far into the gardens with Sarah and Jack for their couple shots. Instead we made the most of the beautiful doorways and archways that are such features of Penshurst Place. We did manage to get outside later in the evening to do something a little different for them.
What a wonderful day it was.
