The Wedding

Jane and Richard had a such a pretty wedding in August of this year.  They were married at their local village church followed by their reception at The Rectory in Crudwell, Malmsbury.  It’s always exciting to shoot any part of a wedding in a new location and what an amazing location The Rectory is.  It’s full to the brim of beautiful styling and detailing which is a photographers dream. To top it all we got to stay over the night before which was a real treat!

The Preparations

Their wedding was one of those days where you couldn’t be sure of the weather, one minute it was grey and drizzly, then amazing sunshine and finally a downpour.  Thankfully all the main parts of Jane and Richard’s day were held in the dry!

While Jim stayed at The Rectory to join Richard during the morning, I joined Jane at their home where she was surrounded by her family and friends, some of which had travelled from her hometown in Ireland especially to be there.  It was such a lovely atmosphere and everyone was so excited.  The garden of the cottage was filled with bunting and Jane’s mum tied ribbons onto Jane’s car.

Jane’s hairdresser Sheena of Sheena’s Wedding Hairstyles produced such a elegant up-do for her and the very talented Emily Tarrant created a beautiful natural looking make up that meant that Jane simply glowed!

The Ceremony

The church was in walking distance of home but Jane decided to do the short journey in her Mini Cooper (ribbons and all) to avoid her hair being blown all over the place.  After the ceremony, in the small but perfectly formed village church, the  groom drove his new bride to The Rectory in an amazing Aston Martin which was on loan for the weekend!

The Bride and Groom Portraits

After they’d had a drink and greeted their guests we whisked Jane and Richard off in the sunshine for some couple portraits around and about the hotel gardens.  From our previous visit to the hotel with them, we already knew that there was a perfect ‘must have’ spot by the outdoor swimming pool for their couple shots.  It’s a small  area lined with vivid aquamarine wooden doors and the most incredible light created by top shade so we had to make sure that we made use of this for their portraits come rain or shine. We also captured a wide shot of them walking back to the hotel across the lawn and it’s definitely one of my favourites from the day.

The Reception

Flowers by Passion created the most amazing floral arrangements for Jane and Richard at The Rectory.  The floral heart on the door was stunning and I have never before seen a floral installation like the one they created in the marquee from hanging long stem roses.  It was all so elegant with muted pink tones and tables named after cheese, so classically beautiful.

After their meal the couple danced the night away and I can only say that I am sorry that we had left by the time they got to the silent disco part of the evening.  I’m told that it was hugely funny seeing everyone dancing in the garden with no music (if you weren’t wearing the headphones of course) and singing at the tops of their voices, what fun!!
