The Hythe Imperial Hotel Wedding

Victorian splendour and panoramic sea views were the perfect backdrop for Carla and Simon’s amazing Hythe Imperial Hotel wedding.  (Us Kent wedding photographers are so spoilt when it comes to amazing and diverse wedding locations and venues!)

The Bridal Suite

On the day Carla got ready in Hythe Imperial Hotel’s beautiful bridal suite which consists of a large bedroom and an equally large sitting room. The light in the rooms is perfect for capturing those bridal preparations and the moments between the family and close friends during this special time of the day. The bridal party consisted of Carla, Carla’s mum and her bridesmaids who were her daughter and her two nieces. It was a busy fun and relaxed morning and everyone looked amazing!  The girls wore beautiful grey (Carla’s favourite colours!) strapless dresses with a lace overlay and a sparkly trim and the bride a gorgeous fishtail gown which was flattered Carla’s curves so beautifully, she looked amazing!

Beach Fun with the Boys

Simon also got ready at the hotel having enjoyed a morning round of golf. My second shooter on the day was fellow photographer Darren Arthur who was with Simon and the boys in the morning and took them for some high jinxing on the beach before they headed back to Hythe Imperial Hotel’s bar to greet the wedding guests.

Champagne Bar Anyone?

As soon as they were ready the girls headed for Hythe Imperial Hotel’s stunning chandeliered champagne bar as Carla was really keen to get some pictures here with her girls.  On the way I took, what turned out to be my favourite shot of the day, of Carla in the stairwell under the chandelier in a gorgeous shaft of light. If I am lucky enough to go back to the Hythe Imperial for another wedding, I will specifically order good weather so I can do that shot again!

An Outdoor Ceremony

As the weather was perfect the ceremony was held outside in the gazebo in the grounds of the hotel.  Carla looked gorgeous as she arrived on the arm of her mum. An empty chair was left in remembrance of dad. Carla also had a brooch on her bouquet as a tribute to him.  It was an elegant ceremony in the bright sunshine with a harpist playing and the sound of the sea in the background it was very romantic.

After the ceremony guests enjoyed a drinks reception in Hythe Imperial Hotel’s pretty gardens and I took some group shots on the steps outside the hotel.  Whilst guests happily mingled, I quickly whisked Carla and Simon around the grounds for some romantic portrait images before meeting back up with guests in the hotel bar.

A Ballroom Reception

The wedding reception was held in the majestic ballroom of the hotel. I loved the theme of Carla and Simon’s wedding it was beautifully understated and very classy. White and grey, Carla’s favourite colour combination, really matched the décor in the ballroom perfectly giving it a real high-end luxury look. The opulent style of the ballroom meant that décor could be kept simple and I especially liked the mirror for the table plan and the pebbles for the place names was a charming nod to the hotel’s seaside location.

Hythe Imperial Hotel have a fantastic toastmaster who did a great job of keeping the day on track. The speeches were funny, poignant and very well received.

Confetti Antics

Carla and Simon cleverly arranged for confetti after the meal so they could have some fun with it while keeping the hotel name and balcony in the pictures.  It was a good call and produced some lovely images from the day. These were followed by some very silly shots with the groom’s party as well.  These guys were so much fun!

I wanted to make the best of low fading light so, as the sun started to set, I took the couple on to the beach for a few more shots then we headed in for cake cutting.

The First Dance

Simon got the evening celebrations started by making his first dance with Carla so much fun that everybody couldn’t wait to join them on the dancefloor. This lot were definitely up for a party and Darren and I captured some images of Carla and Simon having fun with their loved ones all around them which seemed like the perfect set of images to close the story of their wedding day.

A stylish, fun, family-friendly wedding full of love and laughter, Carla and Simon’s wedding was a joy to shoot.  Congratulations to you both and thank you for having me there.  I hope my images will allow to relive your amazing wedding day again and again for many years to come.
