The Great Barn Wedding Photos | Chantal and Alex

The Details
What an amazing day Chantal and Alex’s wedding was! They were married in a beautiful ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Speldhurst and then travelled by vintage Beauford Tourer to The Great Barn Rolvenden for their reception. Their guests followed on in a fabulous old London Routemaster bus which they had hired as the distance between the church and reception was quite a way. The day was full of lovely pretty details, my favourite being the hanging lanterns in the barn, but more about those later!
The Preparations
I spent the morning with Chantal and her family in very pretty cottage in a lovely rural setting not far from The Great Barn. Jim met Alex at their home in Tunbridge Wells and then travelled to the church with him and his best man. It was a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere in the cottage while Nicki Humbles did both hair and make up for Chantal and prepared her to meet her groom. We did have some tears though as the gorgeous flowers arrived from The Flower House Mayfield.
Chantal’s sister helped her into her Nicola Ann dress from Isabella Grace in Tunbridge Wells and she looked stunning. The bridesmaids wore teal dresses from Dessy and looked lovely. I had some time to take a few bridal shots of Chantal before she headed off to Speldhurst in the vintage Beauford Tourer with her dad and uncle.
Chantal walked down the aisle to her groom flanked by pew ends dressed with gypsophila in miniature buckets, it was very pretty. St Mary’s has one of the nicest spots for signing of the register shots that I’ve seen in a long time and we made the most of this by taking quite a few shots.
The Great Barn
Chantal and Alex had wanted a country style wedding and The Great Barn was the perfect setting. They loved the natural untouched and uncontrived feel of the barn and wanted to enhance this feel rather than cover it up too much. They had dressed the barn themselves with lots of prettiness including twinkly lights, candles and gypsophilia enclosed in little birdcages, bunting, framed old family wedding photo’s and of course those amazing chinese lanterns which I couldn’t stop shooting! They also made sure that there was a basket of flip flops for the girls to dance the night away in!
