The Town House
The sun was shining for their spring wedding and it wasn’t even chilly! On the day, I joined Steph who was getting ready in One Warwick Park’s Town House. She was with her mum and bridesmaids and everybody was excited for the day although Steph hadn’t slept well so was feeling a little tired.
Steph looked amazing in her Justin Alexander dress that had a fitted bodice which suited Steph’s petite frame and then had beautiful layers of chiffon in the skirt giving it a gorgeous weightless and floaty look. With hair by Kate Beaumont of Hero Hairstylist and make up by Make up artist Danni Alders, Steph looked every inch the beautiful bride. She really did choose the perfect dress for her.
The Boys on the Pantiles
My second photographer on the day was my lovely colleague Claire Williamson who allowed me to relax and photograph the girls while she was capturing James and his grooms getting ready, also in the hotel. She then took them off to the fashionable Pantiles area of Tunbridge Wells for a few cheeky shots before everyone started to arrive for the ceremony.
A Floral Ceremony
The ceremony was held in One Warwick Park’s beautiful function room. A modern room with panelled beams on the ceiling and a character brick wall at one side which was the end of the room that they had chosen for their ceremony to take place. The floor to ceiling windows flood the room with natural light The room was the perfect blank canvas for Steph and James to stamp their personalities on the day.
And stamp they did. James’s nan made the girls bouquets and both mums did the flowers for the ceremony and reception. They created an amazing floral decoration at the front of the room for the ceremony which was displayed on a pedestal construction designed by Steph and made by her dad. It truly was a family affair and it looked stunning.
Steph and James laughed their way through their very happy ceremony after which their guests had post ceremony drinks in the 17 Restaurant which has an impressive atrium. The bride and groom entered to a arch of sparklers instead of confetti in the atrium which made for some lovely shots. After the family group shots outside I took the couple off for a few minutes of quiet time for some bride and groom portraits. This is always a lovely time for a couple to take a breath before the reception begins.
A Stylish Wedding Breakfast
The function room was dressed with long tables with white linen, candles, vases with white tulips and meringue kisses as name places. It looked so elegant and stylish like something straight out of a bridal magazine. The guests settled into a tasty wedding breakfast which was followed by some heartfelt and funny speeches.
A lovely moment in the day was when Steph and her brother showed a tribute video that they had created for the dinner. It was a way of marking those family members who couldn’t be with them on the day. It was very moving and a lovely way to make sure that absent loved ones were made part of Steph and James’s day.
Dress Number Two
The evening celebration saw Steph change into another gorgeous dress. This time a lovely Viva Bride dress and I got the chance to get some creative portrait shots incorporating the lights in the atrium. They are amongst my favourite images of the day.
Then there was the cutting of a gorgeously unique and stylish wedding cake made by Fondant Fox and then a romantic first dance. It wasn’t long before Steph and James were joined on the dancefloor and the real party began!
A beautiful, understated, elegant yet relaxed wedding for this laid-back fun couple. Congratulations to Steph and James for getting married and thank you for allowing me to tell the story of your day. I loved it. Working with couples like Steph and James and getting to shoot wedding photography at One Warwick Park Hotel remind me of how lucky I am to be a Tunbridge Wells wedding photographer.
