Sprivers Mansion Wedding Photos | Autumn Styled Shoot
About Sprivers Mansion
I was so excited when during the early summer of last year I heard that a local venue called Sprivers Mansion was opening its doors to weddings!
Sprivers is a lovely Grade II Listed Georgian Manor House set in 100 acres of woodland, parkland and formal gardens and can be found in Horsmonden, Kent. In the past it’s only been the gardens that have been open to the public so it was wonderful to see inside the manor house. It’s such a beautiful setting for a wedding. It could be described as grand but it’s also intimate at the same time and has a friendly and approachable feel to it. It also has a wealth of possibilities in terms of styling for your wedding!
Having spent some time photographing the gardens and interiors of the house I was really keen to organise a shoot at the venue. I had a vision for an autumn styled wedding shoot but I also wanted to make the most of the classical feel of the house so I knew it couldn’t be too rustic in style. I didn’t want traditional autumn colours, such as orange or bright red, or even pumpkins so I chatted to Lara from Darling and Wild who always has some amazingly creative ideas! Together, we came up with a mood board full of natural elements, wood, dark fruits, pheasant feathers, glassware, candles, foliage and soft coloured florals. The shoot soon had a rich and sumptuous country estate theme to it.
The Different Elements
Overall there were three elements to the shoot. Firstly the detail and styling, secondly a whimsical bridal element and then thirdly a more classical and traditional couples shoot to highlight the beauty of the venue for potential couples considering an autumn/winter wedding. As there’s so many images I decided to split the posts into three, one for each element, and this here is Part 1 which covers the details and the styling.
Details and Styling
For the styling and details, both Lara and I raided our homes for any antiques and/or unusual pieces that we could incorporate (I loved the rabbit lamp!). We decorated the table in a simple way to highlight the beauty and richness of the dark wood in the Blue Room, complimenting it with dark autumn fruits on a silver platter, pheasant feathers in the gorgeous floral and foliage centre-piece and fizz in glamorous champagne bowls topped with a fresh blackberry. I also brought some of my own tableware to compliment the country estate theme. The feather, fruits and dark wood theme was also followed through into the stunning yellow entrance hall. The yellow room opposite was set up with chairs to create an aisle exactly as it would be for a wedding and lots of candles to achieve a magical romantic feel. Lara dressed the top of the aisle with stunning pale pink tea roses and trailing jasmine.
The images from the shoot have been under wraps for the last couple of months as Your Kent Wedding magazine have had them for feature. The magazine is available on-line this week and will be in print and on the magazine stands from Friday 20th! The magazine also includes further information about Sprivers Mansion in it’s Stately Homes feature.
