Spring Wedding at Penshurst Place | Victoria and Richard

There’s something very special when a couple have a family connection to a church and it’s really lovely to see them exchange their vows in such a meaningful place. Victoria and Richard were married at Victoria’s family church St Deny’s Church in Rotherfield where her grandparents had married years before. This was followed by their reception celebrations at Penshurst Place and Gardens. Victoria’s elderly grandad was at the ceremony but would not be coming to the reception so it was really important for the family to get some photos with him before they left the church. One of these shots became my all time favourite shot of 2018, with the look of love and pure joy on his face as he looks at Victoria, it’s priceless.

Katherine from Florist in the Forest had braved the torrential rain the day before to put up the most beautiful floral arch around the church doorway which framed these shots beautifully.

The bride and the girls got ready at Victoria’s parents house before heading to the church in a beautiful vintage Rolls Royce.  My second shooter Darren had met Richard and the boys at the Kings Arms in Rotherfield where they passed the morning with a little piano playing followed by throwing a few boule in the gardens!

Little did we know at the time that the best man had left the wedding rings in his hotel room so had to go all the way back to Tunbridge Wells and then back to the church before the ceremony.  Needless to say we were a bit delayed.  They didn’t want the bride to know so we delayed her at the church doorway with a series of family and bridal party shots!  Eventually we all headed and the best man quietly took his seat during the first part of the ceremony so all turned out ok.  Richard did confess all to Victoria as they headed off to Penshurst!

Fairly soon after arriving I took the couple off to the Penhsurst gardens for some quiet time together and a few shots of the two of them.  It was a beautiful and very hot day, although not quite as hot as it was due to get in July of last year!!

After family photos the groups took their seats in the majestic Barons Hall for the wedding breakfast and for their speeches.  After cake cutting they all danced the night away.
