Being a Kent wedding photographer I’m very lucky to frequently photograph weddings at The Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells. There are so many reasons why I love shooting Spa Hotel wedding photography.  Set in 14 acres of stunning grounds the Spa Hotel is an 18th century mansion in the spa town of Tunbridge Wells in Kent.  Its grandeur is perfectly balanced with modern luxury making it a fantastic wedding venue.

A Truly Unique Wedding

It was an amazing treat to photograph Sabrina and Lukes beautiful and unique Cinderella meets Game of Thrones style summer wedding at The Spa.

On the day the weather was hot and sunny and we got there early so I could capture some images of Sabrina as she got ready in one of The Spa Hotel’s lovely suites. The bride and her maids were in very good spirits as they prepared for the day which was partly down to the exciting Greatest Showman soundtrack which was playing while hair and make up were being done.

Superhero Boys

My second shooter on the day was my husband Jim who captured some fantastic images of Luke and his groomsmen in the bar wearing superhero /character helmets.  It’s the little touches at weddings that tell you something of the couples’ personalities and I loved Luke and his best man wearing their converse trainers. Showing it’s not just the girls who can co-ordinate themselves!

Cinderella Slippers

Talking of shoes I can’t go any longer without mentioning Sabrina’s absolutely blooming gorgeous Jimmy Choo Cinderella Shoes.  So beautiful that they twinkled all day! Sabrina is a creative soul so added some lovely details to the wedding. I particularly loved the ring box she made in the shape of a dragons egg.

Sabrina looked amazing in her Justin Alexander Dress that had a ball gown skirt giving her a gorgeous traditional fairy-tale look. This teamed with hair and make-up done by Holly Edwards (who, by the way, actually worked on the production of Game of Thrones in real life!) gave Sabrina a beautiful fairy tale look.  Her hair cascading in curls and plaits and her ball gown shape dress made Sabrina look every bit the princess bride.

An Orangery Ceremony

The ceremony was held in Spa Hotel’s orangery.  A beautiful chandeliered room with enormous windows throwing in lots of natural light (us wedding photographers are obsessed with natural light!) After a lovely ceremony everybody headed outside to the pretty gardens and courtyard for a drinks reception and I got the chance to take great images of Sabrina and Luke’s guests chatting and relaxing whilst soaking up the sunshine and the views. We captured a few family photos and then the took a brief moment for some shots of just the two of them. We kept it quite short at this time of the day as it was very hot and planned to take some more later.

The Royal Suite Reception

A very sumptuous wedding breakfast followed along with some very well received speeches.

As the sun started to set I made the most of the low light to get some more beautiful images of Sabrina and Luke in and around the grounds and gardens of Spa Hotel. The falling light and the magnificent backdrop gave me some gorgeous romantic images.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of the wedding cake.  True to form the wedding cake was fairy tale themed with a castle and dragon on it. It was a really unique cake and the first castle and dragon I had seen! This was followed by a romantic first dance and then the guests were ready for a party and it wasn’t long before shapes were being cut all over the dancefloor.

What I loved about Sabrina and Luke’s wedding at Spa Hotel was that they really focused on having a fun and unique day which captured their personality and set the tone for their guests to just kick back and enjoy themselves.

Congratulations to Sabrina and Luke for getting married and thank you for allowing me to tell the story of your day.
