Penshurst Place Wedding Photos | Kayleigh and Chris
For a photographer Penshurst Place and Gardens is an amazing place to shoot a wedding as there are beautiful locations everywhere you look to pose your couples. There’s the grand building and architecture as well as many different areas of formal gardens which can be used to create wonderful images. The hardest part of the whole thing is deciding which of those locations you’re going to use in the short amount of time you get with a couple on their wedding day!
The Bride and Groom
Kayleigh and Chris were a fantastic couple to photograph and gave us more than enough of their time on the day to capture some beautiful couple shots. They were truly invested in getting some beautiful shots to remember their day and took the time needed. Later in the day we were also able to capture some gorgeous shots of Kayleigh twirling in her dress in one of the many archways and as well as looking very beautiful on the grand stairs from the Barons Hall.
I met Kayleigh, her mum and sister in The Spa Hotel where she was getting ready while Jim joined Chris at his parents house in Bromley. The hairdresser was hard at work when I arrived and was teasing Kayleighs beautiful long hair into an amazing up-do. It was a lovely relaxed morning and I had time to capture some lovely portrait shots of Kayleighs mum and sister as well as some of the bride before she left for the ceremony.
Kayleigh travelled from The Spa Hotel to Penshurst village where she transferred to the ceremony in an amazing horse and carriage. I love the shot of the horse and carriage coming through the gates at Penshurst! Everyone was safely seated in the Sunderland Room while she made her way through the many small and large doors and arches to arrive up the stairs to meet her husband to be. Their little boy took some of his first steps up the aisle ahead of his mum which resulted in quite a few tears along the way! After they’d tied the knot and navigated the aisle of bubbles (instead of confetti) the couple took a short horse and carriage ride around Penshurst before coming back for their couple shots.
The Bride and Groom Portraits
We started, of course, in the Italian Garden overlooking the main house and then did a circuit of the gardens before returning to their guests. Limewalk usually provides a magnificent tree lined overhang to the walkway leading up to Penshurst from the visitor entrance but the tree surgeons had been hard at work a week or so beforehand and everything was looking a little too pruned for my vision of a beautiful shot! It didn’t matter though as we got some lovely shots among the apple trees lining Coronation Walk.
The Barons Hall provided a very grand setting for their wedding breakfast themed in pink, followed by their evening reception during which the fire pit was lit! Yes, I know it was August, but it had to be done, it gave a very special feel to the room!
Here’s some images from their very beautiful day.
