Tim and Sonia had the most glorious September country garden wedding in Kent filled with lots of smiles and laughter.  It as a gloriously sunny day right up until they were safely seated for dinner, how about that for timing!

The most important thing the couple wanted from their photos was lots of lovely candid shots of their guests and of themselves having a fabulous time.  They didn’t want to take more than a few minutes for couple shots and only had a handful of family groups so this really was for me a documentary day.

The girls spent the evening before and the morning of the wedding getting ready at the George Hotel in Cranbrook where I joined them for the mornings preparations and fun.  Jim met Tim and the boys at The Bull in Three Legged Cross where the groom was catching his breath before heading to the church in a vintage Citroen 2CV.  It was a beautiful ceremony which included an Indian farewell prayer read by Sonia’s 94 year old grandmother.

After the confetti line the couple headed off to Tim’s parents spectacular garden for their reception.  The marquee was beautifully decorated in an Anglo Indian style with place names in Indian script, a menu with Bhangra dance moves (for later in the evening), tea caddy’s and Indian bracelets for the ladies.  Their table names were of different teas and the seating plan was housed in a trunk which had belonged (and travelled with) Tims grandfather.  They had a croquembouche wedding cake with a bride and groom and cats cake topper!

Unusually, for their first dance they provided their guests with song sheets and had them sing Can You Feel The Love Tonight from the Lion King helped along by Owain Pennington.

The couple had created a wedding day that had so many personal touches which meant a lot to them, it was simply beautiful and Jim and I were honoured to capture the day for them.

Take a look at a snapshot of their day.
