The Location

We met Rachel and Alec through one of our lovely 2013 wedding couples and we were very excited to hear that they were having a small intimate wedding in Bath, on Christmas Eve – how romantic!  It had been quite a few years since we’d been to Bath so it was really lovely to go back even for a quick visit.  We even managed to find some time to relax and treat ourselves to a lovely meal in Jamie’s Italian the night before!

As everyone knows, the weather during the lead up to Christmas (and beyond!), was the worst it had been for a long time.  As we were travelling down to Bath on the Monday afternoon we really thought we were going to end our 2013 wedding season without being able to take any pictures of the beautiful Georgian architecture because of torrential rain.  We kept everything crossed and thankfully on Christmas Eve itself the sun shone and despite being a bit chilly and breezy it was a perfect day!

Getting Ready

Both Rachel and Alec got ready in the Queensberry Hotel in Bath along with their families.  Rachel was in a gorgeous suite with a huge bathroom which had the bath in the middle of the room and perfect light for photos!  We did use the room (and the bath) for some beautiful couple shots later in the evening.  Rachel looked stunning in her birdcage veil and tea length dress from Coast.

The Ceremony at the Guildhall Bath

They had a beautiful intimate ceremony at the Guildhall Bath before heading out into the sunshine for some photographs.  We were somewhat spoilt for choice with the gorgeous architecture of Bath for their photos but we found a few quiet spots and took some lovely portraits of them both followed by their family formal shots.

The Reception

We then headed off to the Abbey Hotel where they had hired a private room for their wedding breakfast.

We headed back later that evening for the start of our Christmas celebrations!
