The Details

It’s always lovely when you get the opportunity to shoot a wedding at a venue that you’ve never photographed before and Great Fosters in Egham, Surrey was one such venue for us.  Alison and Conrad’s wedding in early March was unique in another way too as not only were we the photographers, we were also the guests because Conrad is Jim’s brother!

The Day

It wasn’t the best of weather, (in fact it was hammering it down all day!) but there was lots of laughter and great fun to be had.  I met Alison and her bridesmaids in the bridal suite of the hotel which was enormous and very grand and got on with photographing her beautiful dress hanging on the four poster bed.  I love the very simple shot of her shoes on the wooden corridor floor and the flowers in the leaded window.

The couple had opted to see each other before the ceremony and wanted to do a ‘first look’ as the bride was feeling quite nervous.  They then headed into the beautiful Orangery for their ceremony, the aisle of which was lined with candles and white trees it was quite magical.

After the ceremony they spent some time with their guests before we whisked them off for a few shots around the hotel.  Unfortunately, the rain was still coming down quite hard so we weren’t able to get outside during the daylight but we did make use of the fabulous doorway of the hotel and the magnificent foyer area for some lovely shots.  Thankfully the rain stopped for just long enough at the end of the meal for us to get outside and take a few shots of the couple in front of the beautifully lit venue!

And then the dancing began….

Here’s a little selection from the day.
