Country Garden Wedding Surrey | Rachel and Damian
Rachel and Damians was one of the most beautiful summer country garden style weddings I’d shot in the long time. I’d never seen a barn reception quite like it. The barn belonged to a family friend and everyone chipped in and transformed this open air beauty into something quite magical for Rachel and Damians special day.
Rachels father is a vicar of the church next door to the reception barn and Jim and I had met him the year before when we shot a wedding at his church. We obviously made a good impression and were truly honoured when he recommended us to his daughter Rachel and to Damian. We knew it was going to be a special wedding as not only was Rachels dad giving her away but he was also conducting the ceremony! Keep scrolling to read more.
The day started for me at Rachels parents house where she was getting ready with her sisters, mum, dad and bridesmaids. Everyone was having a great time despite the weather being less than great. It was one of those changeable days where you wait five minutes and it’s different again!
While the boys grabbed some fun photos at the church Rachel was being buttoned into her exquisite Mori Lee gown.
The family cat insisted on being part of the action!
After a glass of champagne and a few family photos the bride and her dad headed off to the church in a gorgeous vintage car belonging to a family friend.
I loved the moment Rachel and her dad came through the church doorway and she spotted everyone, the joy on her face was just priceless! It was a very special ceremony especially when dad asked himself ‘who gives the bride away’!
We were able to get some shots of the couple outside of the church and a few family formals before the rain really starting coming down. Thankfully it was only a shower (the last of the day) and before long the walked through the churchyard into the adjacent garden and onto the farm for their wedding reception.
Everyone threw confetti very enthusiastically! The reception drinks flowed and before the couple headed into the barn for their wedding breakfast and speeches, we managed to grab a few romantic couple shots.
A few moments alone to take it all in before heading into the wedding breakfast.
The guests were seated at long wooden trestle tables under the canopy of the barn and the sun shone across them while they ate their wedding breakfast. The meal was punctuated with some very emotional speeches between each course.
The sun continued to shine and we had some beautiful light to work with so we stole the couple for a few minutes more for some lovely warm sunset shots.
After cutting the beautiful cake that Rachels mum had made the couple and the guests danced the night away in an adjoining barn to the music of the fabulous band Pandoras Jukebox.
I was lucky to have Rachel and Damians wedding featured on The English Wedding Blog and you can read about their day in their own words by clicking here.
