In April, Harriet and Anthony had the most relaxed beautiful wedding at the Ashdown Park Hotelin Sussex. We had a fabulous time and the lovely couple didn’t let a drizzly day spoil their fun.

The Ashdown Park Hotel is an absolutely stunning venue and I was really excited to finally shoot there. It’s one of those venues that just hadn’t slipped into my repertoire so it was a real treat to finally get there!

The Preparations

Harriet was getting ready at the hotel in an enormous suite along with her mum, bridesmaids and her flower girls. Harriet’s make up was created by the very talented Harriet Rainbow and her hair by Lucy Pardoe.  Harriet had opted for a simple and very soft hair style to compliment her beautiful Charlie Brear gown and she looked stunning! Once she was ready Harriet was joined by her brother who was giving her away and her very cute little boy who almost didn’t recognise his mum!  The whole wedding was a lovely child friendly affair and the couple had encouraged their friends and family to bring their little ones along. The bride and bridesmaids flowers and the reception flowers were created by the talented Lara from Darling and Wild.

Anthony was getting ready at home and after a brief stop to resolve a suit issue at Moss Bros in Tunbridge Wells the boys headed on to the hotel for the main event.

The Ceremony

Both the ceremony and reception were held in the magnificent Richard Towneley Suite which is an amazing converted chapel.  There is a room below the vast vaulted ceiling of the reception space which is more intimate for ceremonies and this is where the couple tied the knot. It was lovely to see their little boy cheekily holding onto his parents during part of the ceremony.  Afterwards the couple took a few moments alone in the grounds before heading back to their drinks reception and their guests who had travelled from far and wide.

The Reception

We managed to get some time alone with the couple in between the rain showers and we headed into the gardens of the hotel for some bride and groom shots.  I couldn’t resist making the most of the red rhododendrons as they made for a magical backdrop to the pictures. After their wedding breakfast and speeches the couple took some additional time for shots around the hotel which was perfect as the rain had stopped.  They followed this by dancing the night away beneath the blue stained glass windows of the dramatic chapel.
