Wedding Venue Guide Sprivers Mansion

Country House Wedding, Kent Wedding, Wedding Tips

I’ve had the pleasure of being one of the Sprivers Mansion Wedding Venue preferred photographers for several years now. I’m incredibly fond of the venue, not only as is it a mile from my home but also because I was lucky enough to be around when it first opened its doors as a wedding venue. I have shot many weddings and styled shoots there in all seasons and have really enjoyed photographing every single one of them. It’s a lovely venue that offers couples exclusive use.

Sprivers Mansion is a Grade II listed Georgian Manor House set in a 100 acres of beautiful parkland. It’s a secluded private venue at the end of a long sweeping driveway that feels grand but also intimate at the same time. It’s one of the most beautiful venues I work at.

As it’s an exclusive use venue with accommodation, you can spread your wedding over a long weekend if you’d like to. The bridal suite is large and because there’s plenty of room it’s perfect for capturing bridal preparations and fun with your bridesmaids during the morning of your wedding. Grooms often get ready in the Rose Garden Wing which is fabulous if you are looking for a venue where everything is under one roof. I have had the pleasure of photographing ceremonies at Sprivers in the Yellow Room as well as ceremonies at the two local churches, St Margarets at Horsmonden or All Saints in Brenchley.

I’ll tell you a little more about photography at the venue further down, but first let’s hear from Jo at Sprivers.

What makes Sprivers the perfect wedding venue?

This exclusive use wedding venue comprising the major part of a beautiful Georgian house set within manicured private gardens and surrounded by 100 acres of National Trust Estate, can accommodate 10 of your nearest and dearest for a weekend long exclusive use wedding celebration.   We host only 12 events per year, which allows plenty of time between weddings for you to set up and prepare for your truly bespoke wedding day.

What makes it different from other venues?

Because we host only 12 weddings a year, we can give your wedding all the attention you need and we can really get to know you and what you would like to achieve.  There is no whiff of a conveyor belt, with no rush to set up or clear away for the next wedding coming in.  You can have access to the marquee days before the wedding to set things up exactly as you envisage it.  Help is on hand from our catering company’s events coordinator as well as the front of house and the venue manager during both the set up and the big day.

What wedding options are available?

Whether you have 200 guests or 20 guests, there is something for everyone.

Civil ceremonies can take place either in our elegant Yellow Room or on the lawns surrounding the house and of course, some couples will arrive for their drinks reception with us straight form their church service. Intimate wedding breakfasts can be held in the house with a small evening reception to follow and larger affairs can move to the marquee for the wedding breakfast and evening reception after a drinks reception in the house and gardens.

The accommodation can be taken for additional nights and if you wish, you can host small events for some of your guests before the wedding or even a brunch in the marquee the following day.

How do you make sure your couples get the perfect wedding day?

We are privileged to have 2 expert local companies providing in house services:

The LPM Bohemia Tent Company, based in Horsmonden, who supply our beautiful traditional canvas-pole marquee and whose wealth of events expertise is second to none, will ensure that no detail of your marquee set-up is missed and will go above and beyond to deliver perfection for your big day.

Chefs Nicole and Lesly of the Curious Eatery, in Boughton Monchelsea, offer truly bespoke wedding catering, with no fixed menus, no wine packages, no corkage, giving you total freedom to create the experience you envisage for your guests.  The calibre of the food exceeds expectation every time, not least because you have the chance to collaborate on your menu and, once prepared exactly as you have requested, you’ll be invited to the restaurant to taste it before giving it the go ahead.

Sprivers Mansion is a family run venue offering only 12 weddings per year which gives us the chance to get you know you and to understand your vision for your wedding.  We like you feel that you’ve hired your dream country house, where you’ve accommodated 10 of your nearest and dearest and hosted a weekend long wedding celebration.

What tips would you offer couples to ensure a stress-free wedding?

Be sure to make the best use of the days running up to the wedding when we allow access to the marquee and the house to set up everything in readiness for the big day.  The more you do ahead of time, the more relaxed you are and the smoother the day runs.  Tap in to the expertise of the catering events staff who will be with you during the set up.  Remember, they have seen it all and done it all before!

Perfect the art of delegation and let go of a few things to friends/family members.  They always go above and beyond as they realise how important it is to get it right.

Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Wedding photography at Sprivers

Sprivers is surrounded by 100 acres of National Trust land and the photo opportunities are endless. There’s the main drive which overlooks fields, trees and sometimes sheep! There’s the formal gardens which bloom at different times of the year meaning there’s always colour for your photos. The gorgeous wisteria covering the front of the house blooms in April and early May and of course, there’s the Rose Garden which not only looks amazing, it smells it too!

I also love to photograph around the house both inside and outside. The staircase is popular with couples as is the Yellow Room. I particularly like to incorporate features of the house in my photos for couples as it really sets the scene.

If you are considering Sprivers Mansion for your wedding or have already booked I’d love to hear from you.  Please do get in touch and I’ll send you some more information.
